Carter Named to SEC Community Service Team

COLUMBIA, Mo. – On Wednesday, the Southeastern Conference announced its 2018 Softball Community Service Team and Mississippi State outfielder Carmen Carter represented the Bulldogs on the squad.
The senior from Jackson, Miss., has volunteered countless hours to give back to the Starkville community over her four seasons of wearing the Maroon and White, including building hosing as part of Habitat for Humanity, volunteering for the T.K. Martin Fun Run and stopping by local elementary schools to read to children with Reading Railroad. Carter has also been involved with United We Feed, which holds food drives to restock local food banks.
In the winter, you can find Carter and her teammates ringing the bells as part of the Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign. She has helped spread awareness to multiple women's health issues as part of the Pink Dawg Walk and with her teammates midweek contest by donning teal as part of MSU softball's "No One Fights Alone" campaign.
An animal lover, Carter has volunteered with the Cedar Hill Animal Sanctuary, helping to rebuild facilities. Most recently, Carter and her teammates gave back to the Starkville Police Department, volunteering time to do year works for local officers.
She is also actively involved with the Mississippi State M-Club. The organization unites current and former student-athletes, keeping alums connected to the university, updating alums on changes to university polices, and growing the spirit and involvement of MSU Athletics beyond Starkville.
Cater and the Bulldogs take of sixth-seeded Texas A&M in the first round of the 2018 SEC Championship with first pitch set for 11 a.m. CT from Mizzou Softball Stadium in Columbia, Mo. The game will be televised nationally on the SEC Network.
