Holt Named To SEC Women’s Golf Community Service Team

STARKVILLE, Ala. – Katie Holt's dedication on the golf course showed with a stellar junior campaign for the Mississippi State women's golf team. Her commitment to the Starkville community was rewarded Thursday as she was named to the Southeastern Conference Community Service Team.
"I love getting the opportunity to get out and volunteer in the local community," Holt said. "Starkville plays such an important role in supporting us when we compete, so community service is just a small way for us to say thank you. From walking kids to school and reading to them, to helping out with food drives during holidays, I really do enjoy the opportunity we get to give back to the community, and I look forward to continuing to help in the future."
Holt led the team in community service hours this season, participating in a number of events like the Sprint for Gabe 5K, MLK Day of Service, Spring Walk to School Day at the Starkville Elementary School as-well-as much more.
She was also the team recipient for this year's Francis Newsome Award for academic, athletic, and community service achievement.
Along with performing in the community and classroom, Holt also performed on the course, ending the season with a team-low 75.2 scoring average
