For the first time since 2015, Mississippi State had three Bulldogs honored as members of the NFCA All-South Region Team.
Davidson, Ward, Harrison Named to NFCA All-South Region Teams

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – As Mississippi State softball gears up for postseason play and the Tucson Regional, a trio of Bulldogs were honored as members of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-South Region teams, the league announced Thursday.
Freshman Mia Davidson and senior Holly Ward were both selected to the NFCA All-South Region Second Team, while senior Reggie Harrison was selected to the All-South Region Third Team. The honors are the first NFCA All-Region selections for the trio. The three selections are the most for the program since having three Bulldogs honored in 2015.
Overall, MSU now has 41 total NFCA All-Region honors spread out amongst 26 players since 1997 with 15 of those coming during head coach Vann Stuedeman's seven season at the helm of the Bulldogs. This is also the 14th season that MSU has received multiple NFCA All-Region selections.
The only freshman to start all 57 games this season, Davidson has been a force behind the dish for the Bulldogs. Defensively, Davidson has thrown out 10 would-be base stealers to go along with three pick-offs, but it is her numbers at the plate that has rocketed the Hillsborough, N.C. to SEC Freshman of the Year and as a top 10 finalist for the Schutt Sports/NFCA Division I National Freshman of the Year award.
Davidson leads the Southeastern Conference with a .770 slugging percentage with help of 13 doubles, two triple and a conference-leading 18 home runs, which is tied for MSU's single-season record. She has knocked 66 hits to hold a .371 batting average and has scored 48 times this season while also recording 46 RBIs. Davidson has recorded 15 walks and 10 hit by pitches to help hold a ,444 on-base percentage.
Ward has put together a stellar senior campaign that has seen her jump into eight categories in the MSU record book, including third in shutouts (13), fifth in strikeouts (365), opponent batting average (.229) and saves (7), sixth in solo no-hitters (1), seventh in innings pitched (450.0 IP) and ninth in strikeouts per seven innings (5.65) and wins (37). The Haleyville, Ala., native opened her senior campaign tossed the program's first prefect game in over 20 years.
Along with her 15 wins and 164 strikeouts, Ward has been dominant in closing out games, ranking third in the conference in saves (4). Ward has also tied Autumn Anderson's (1998) single-season record with eight shutouts this season to help the program set the single-season record with 18 shutouts as a squad this season. Ward holds a scorching 1.33 earned run average, which ranks seventh in the conference and fourth in MSU single-season history. Her ERA is the lowest by any Bulldog since 1998.
Harrison has started all 57 games this season this season at shortstop, providing solid defense with 68 putouts and 95 assists this season. The Magnolia, Texas, native has been extremely patient at the plate, drawing a team-leading 24 walks and 12 hit by pitches to hold a .405 on-base percentage.
The senior has knocked 43 hits, including 10 doubles, one triple and seven home runs to hold a .481 slugging percentage with 39 RBIs. Harrison has also scored 34 times this season.
Davidson, Harrison, Ward and the rest of the Bulldog staff begin the road to the Women's College World Series tomorrow as they open the Tucson Regional against North Dakota State at 8 p.m. CT on ESPN2. Mark Neely and Danielle Lawrie will have the call.
