Bulldog Men Fall to No. 16 in Latest USTFCCCA Rankings

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Mississippi State's men's track and field program dropped seven spots to No. 16 in this week's USTFCCCA rankings.
This week marked the first week without preseason marks, removing two notable performers from consideration for the Bulldogs. MSU lost Curtis Thompson's school-record javelin mark and its top 100m performer from 2017 with the exclusion of Lawrence Crawford's time.
"We dipped in the rankings, but we still see ourselves as a Top 10 team come nationals," head coach Steve Dudley said. "This week will give us a chance to earn our way back up, especially in the relay events where we'll meet some great competition."
The Bulldogs will travel to the Penn Relays this week in Philadelphia, Pa. MSU is one of 225 colleges competing, including schools from the Bahamas, Canada, Jamaica and Guyana. State will be seeking its first Championship of America wheel since 2010, when it won the men's 4x200m relay.
The Southeastern Conference again boasted the most ranked teams of any conference. Nineteen of the SEC's 27 teams are ranked, while 10 of those are inside the Top 10. Auburn, South Carolina and Vanderbilt will join the Bulldogs in Philadelphia this weekend for MSU's final meet before the conference championships on May 11-13.
