This past weekend was practically a mini Super Bulldog Weekend itself with all that we had going, and we've got the actual Super Bulldog Weekend 2018 coming next week. As always, for all information on #SBW18, be sure to visit www.hailstate.com/SBW and make plans to join us for baseball, softball, football, the Cotton District Arts Festival and all the assorted activities that come with Super Bulldog Weekend.
Super Bulldog Weekend baseball tickets were shipped last week, so those who ordered chair back seats should have them in hand by now. Just a reminder that these seat assignments are only for Super Bulldog Weekend 2018 and are not related to permanent seat assignments, which will be made later this summer when all stadium seats are installed.
Also a reminder that we will have some events celebrating women's basketball's run to the NCAA finals (for the second year in a row) during Super Bulldog Weekend. Details will be forthcoming.
With plenty of home games left and lots of postseason play still to come, it ought to be an exciting last few months of the athletic year at Mississippi State.
Â
Â
Each of our tennis teams conclude regular season play this weekend in important SEC matches, and we have the great fortune of our women being able to do so at home. After rising to No. 27 in the country following a split weekend that included an impressive victory over Tennessee, Coach Greenan and his team host No. 6 rival Ole Miss on Friday at 4 p.m. for Senior Day, when we will honor three seniors. I hope you'll join me in congratulating them on a wonderful regular season as we cheer them on through the end of it and into the postseason.
Â
Meanwhile, Coach Roberts and our men's tennis team continued their dominant conference run, defeating Arkansas and Ole Miss over the weekend to keep a perfect (10-0) SEC record in 2018. It's no wonder they're ranked No. 7 nationally at the moment, and their regular season continues on the road this weekend as they close out SEC play with matches at No. 5 and SEC co-leader Texas A&M (Friday) and LSU (Sunday) with the SEC Championship on the line.
Â
Looking ahead to the postseason, we are hopeful that our men will be selected as a host site for the first two rounds of the 2018 NCAA Tennis Championship, so make plans to be in Starkville May 11-13 to cheer them on at the Pitts Tennis Centre if we do indeed earn that opportunity. Postseason sites and selections will be released May 1.
Â
Â
Then, of course, we have three more programs deserving of praise and support as our baseball team just won an exciting series at home over No. 3 rival Ole Miss, our softball team continues its streak of consecutive weeks in the Top 25, and our track and field teams are coming off of stellar outdoor performances in Alabama over the weekend.
Â
All of them will be on the road this weekend, so we wish good luck to baseball at Auburn, softball at Ole Miss and track and field at the Tennessee Relays.
Â
We appreciate what you do for Mississippi State Athletics and want to encourage you to get others involved. There are three things you can do to help the athletic department at Mississippi State reach its desired goals:
1. Buy Season Tickets
2. Financially Support the Bulldog Club
3. Get Others To Do The Same
Thanks for taking the time to read this update. Â
Hail State!
