STARKVILLE, Miss. – Seven Mississippi State track and field athletes have received All-Southeastern Conference honors, the league announced on Wednesday.
Logan Boss, the conference champion in the high jump, earned a first-team selection with her performance after clearing a height of 1.91m (6-3.25) to set a new SEC Championship meet record.
MSU's distance medley relay team that placed third at the championships received a second-team nod. Alon Lewis, Mia Meydrich, Rhianwedd Price-Weimer and Keturah Smith finished in 11:17.25 to score six points for the Bulldogs. Price-Weimer also took second in the mile at the conference championships.
On the men's side, 800m runners Dejon Devroe and Daniel Nixon went second and third, respectively, and each took home second-team selections, the first of their Bulldog careers.
"I'm very proud of our athletes and how they performed at the conference meet to earn these honors," head coach Steve Dudley said. "We compete in the hardest conference in the country, and our athletes chose to challenge themselves to compete with the best when they decided to come to Mississippi State."
Boss, Meydrich and Lewis are all second-time honorees, while Price-Weimer's award is the fifth all-conference honor of her career between both the indoor and outdoor seasons. Smith is a first-time honoree.
Three of MSU's All-SEC selections will compete at the NCAA Indoor Championships in College Station, Texas, this week. Boss is the top-seeded high jumper at nationals, and Price-Weimer will go for the second national championship of her career, running in the mile. Devroe joins MSU's freshman standout Marco Arop in the 800m.
