Not only is the future immensely bright for our men's basketball program, but the foundation is already in place with a team that had zero seniors and was playing some of the best basketball in the country during the month of March. They've given us reason to cheer all year long and I want our guys to know how much joy it brought all of us to see Bulldog Basketball begin its return to the national spotlight. Your performance this season is something you can take pride in, making it all the way to the NIT Final Four while garnering praise and respect from those across the country. We can't wait to see you back on the court next year.
For the second year in a row – and for the second time in school history – our Bulldogs are in the Final Four of the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament. It is no secret to anyone what an outstanding job National Coach of the Year Vic Schaefer has done this season, guiding our ladies to an SEC Championship and yet another deep Tourney run.
I'll be with the team in Columbus, Ohio, for the Final Four this weekend, and I know Bulldogs across the world will join me in cheering from near and far. The special moments never seem to stop coming with this team, and their impressive performances on the court have been among the best and most consistent in the country. If the season ended today, it would already go down as one of the greatest in school history, but the good news is this: it's not over yet.
Good luck to the ladies this weekend. Let's go win another ring and cut down one more net.
In a rare occurrence this time of year, every single one of our teams is either off or playing on the road this weekend, which means we've got Bulldogs spread all across the country the next several days. Baseball, softball, women's tennis and men's tennis all have key SEC tilts on the road, while our track and field teams are headed south for the Pepsi Florida Relays.
Those of you watching from home, be sure to follow along by checking www.hailstate.com for updates on results and how to watch, and follow along @HailState on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook for news and features throughout the weekend's competition. Good luck to all of our teams this week and every week!
We appreciate what you do for Mississippi State Athletics and want to encourage you to get others involved. There are three things you can do to help the athletic department at Mississippi State reach its desired goals:
1. Buy Season Tickets
2. Financially Support the Bulldog Club
3. Get Others To Do The Same
Thanks for taking the time to read this update.
Hail State!
