Men's Hoops Advances to No. 22 in Both Polls

STARKVILLE – On the strength of victories over Alcorn State and Dayton, the Mississippi State men's basketball team advanced three spots to No. 22 in both the Associated Press and USA Today/Coaches Top 25 polls released Monday.
The Bulldogs are ranked among the AP's Top 25 poll for the fifth consecutive edition and the USA Today/Coaches Top 25 for the fourth straight time for the first time to start the season since 2004-05.
Mississippi State and Kentucky are the only two schools to be ranked inside the AP Top 25 in football, men's basketball and women's basketball. The Bulldogs and Wildcats are joined by Arizona State, Gonzaga, Iowa, Maryland and Tennessee as the only schools to be listed in both AP Top 25 basketball polls.
The Bulldogs are one of four SEC teams ranked in this week's polls which include Tennessee (7, 7), Auburn (8, 9) and Kentucky (9, 8). Arkansas, Florida and LSU are receiving votes between both polls.
