STARKVILLE – On the strength of a SEC-best eight-game winning streak, the Mississippi State men's basketball team held steady inside the top 20 for a third straight week in both the Associated Press and USA Today/Coaches Top 25 polls released Monday.
The Bulldogs check in at No. 17 in USA Today/Coaches and at No. 19 in the AP Top 25 polls. MSU has been ranked among both polls for the entire season, the program's longest streak to start a season dating back to 2004-05 when the Bulldogs were ranked for 11 consecutive polls.
Mississippi State and Kentucky remain as the only two schools nationally to be ranked inside the AP Top 25 in football, men's basketball and women's basketball. The Bulldogs and Wildcats are joined by Arizona State, Gonzaga, Iowa, Marquette, Michigan State, North Carolina State and Tennessee in both the AP Top 25 basketball polls on the men's and women's side.
Mississippi State is one of four SEC teams ranked which include Tennessee (3 AP, 3 USA Today), Auburn (12 AP, 11 USA Today) and Kentucky (16 AP, 15 USA Today).
