A three-time state champion, Madisyn Kennedy is the fourth member of MSU's 2019 signing class.

STARKVILLE – A three-time state champion from neighboring Alabama, shortstop/third baseman Madisyn Kennedy was tabbed as the fourth member of Mississippi State softball's 2019 signing class head coach Vann Stuedeman announced Wednesday.
"Madisyn has the size and arm strength to dominate the left side of the infield at the next level," said assistant softball coach Tyler Bratton. "Madisyn was a key piece in the Birmingham Thunderbolts run this past summer to the national championship at PGF. She has the ability to hit for power as well as the range and quick hands to be an All-SEC caliber defender. It is not uncommon to arrive to the park and see Madisyn make an ESPN-caliber web gem then turn around and pick up a clutch hit in the box. We can't wait for Madisyn to arrive on campus."
Kennedy is entering her senior season as captain for the Macon East Academy softball program and has led the Knights to three AISA Class 3A State Championships.
"As soon as I stepped on campus for the first time, I knew I was exactly where I was supposed to be," said Kennedy. "Mississippi State is a special place with an incredible atmosphere. I chose Mississippi State because it feels like home, and I love Starkville even more each time I visit."
The Montgomery, Alabama, native turned in an impressive performance at the plate during the 2018 season, holding a .466 batting average behind 96 hits, including seven home runs. Kennedy coupled that with a .538 on-base percentage and .748 slugging mark. Defensively, she held a .927 fielding percentage over her junior season.
Her sophomore campaign resulted in just as impressive numbers as she totaled 86 hits en route to a .486 average at the plate. Kennedy held a .540 on-base percentage that season and turned in a .864 slugging mark with help of 10 homers.
As a freshman, Kennedy batted at a .491 clip for the Knights, knocking a total of 84 hits. She added six home runs that season to record an .819 slugging mark and added a .529 on-base percentage.
On the travel ball stage, Kennedy competes with the Alabama Birmingham Thunderbolts Premier under head coach Rocky Thompson. Kennedy was part of the 2018 16U Colorado Firework Power Pool championship run and brought home the 2018 16U PGF Premier National Championship with the Thunderbolts.
Kennedy is a three-sport athlete at Macon East Academy also earning four letters in both volleyball and basketball. As an outside hitter for the volleyball program, Kennedy won state championships in 2015, 2017 and 2018.
Academically, Kennedy is a member of the National Honor Society, serving as the organization's president over her senior season. She is also a member and active secretary of the Mu Alpha Theta club.
Kennedy is the daughter of Shannon and Terry Kennedy. She has two siblings, Deven and Ashtyn. Her older sister Deven currently plays softball at Florida international University.
