Coaches Tab Weatherspoon, Holman Pre-Season All-SEC

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The pre-season accolades continue to roll in for Quinndary Weatherspoon and Aric Holman as the senior duo earned All-SEC honors from the league's coaches announced Tuesday.
Weatherspoon captured All-SEC First Team, while Holman was tabbed an All-SEC Second-Team pick. The Bulldogs were joined by Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Kentucky and Tennessee with two selections apiece. The last time Mississippi State had two players listed on the pre-season teams by coaches was heading into the 2015-16 season.
Weatherspoon has come away with a first-team selection during each of the last three seasons. He sits 17th on Mississippi State's all-time scoring list and heads into Friday's action 21 points shy of passing Jarvis Varnado (2007-09-09-10).
Holman has improved his stat line in each of his first three seasons with the Bulldogs. He provided 10.9 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game last season. His rebound and block averages were ranked inside the SEC's top 10. Holman enters Friday's season opener 289 points shy from reaching 1,000 for his career.

The Bulldogs will begin the 2018-19 campaign with a three-game homestand and face off against Austin Peay with Friday's tip time scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT from Humphrey Coliseum. The Governors are led by Terry Taylor, the reigning Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) Freshman of the Year, who amassed 15.6 points, 8.6 rebounds and 1.0 blocks per game last season.
