STARKVILLE – Ginger Brown-Lemm inked the "A-Team" during the early signing period as Ashley Gilliam, Ally Williams and Abbey Daniel signed to join the Mississippi State women's golf team.
The first Dawg to join the squad was Ashley Gilliam, a Manchester, Tennessee, native.
Gilliam owns an impressive resume as she is ranked 14th in her class and 30th among all junior players in the world. She was selected as a 2018 Rolex Junior All-American and 2018 Tennessee All Mid-State.
Gilliam was a 2018 U.S. Girls Junior Quarterfinalist with multiple accomplishments under her belt. She was a two-time AJGA champion, 2018 TSSAA District 8AAA and Region 4AAA individual champion, as well as a 2017 USGA women's state team champion among other accolades.
"Ashley is as good a fit as we would hope to find," Brown-Lemm said. "She is extremely talented, a seasoned competitor and ready to make an immediate impact in our program. She has multiple wins on every major junior tour and is the best player to come out of the state of Tennessee since Aubree Jones."
In addition to finding one of the top talents in Tennessee, MSU also signed one of the top players in Alabama with Athens native Ally Williams.
With Williams, Mississippi State lands the second-ranked player in Alabama and a top-100 recruit in the 2019 class.
Williams, who began competitive play as an eighth grader, was a 2017 U.S. Girls Junior participant and two-time Women's Four Ball qualifier. After earning a spot in the 2017 Women's Four Ball, she medaled in the event in 2018.
Williams was part of the winning Team Alabama for The Southern Cup in 2016, 2017 and 2018. She also advanced to the semifinals of the 2018 state match play tournament and the quarterfinals at the 2018 Southern Amateur.
"Ally is a competitor to the core," Brown-Lemm said. "She is super dedicated to the game and will make significant strides in our program. She has a strong team of support and professionals, so we look forward to her playing quickly."
The final Bulldog to join the team is a Bulldog legacy in Covington, Louisiana, native Abbey Daniel. Daniel's father, Chuck, played baseball for the Bulldogs, while her mother, Kay, is mentioned numerous times in the Bulldog women's golf record book. Her uncle, John Bond, played quarterback at MSU.
Daniel heads to her family's alma mater the top-ranked junior golfer in Louisiana, No. 60 in the 2019 class and 149th among junior golfers in the world.
As a freshman, Daniel won the junior state champion and her high school state title. In 2018, she was a U.S. Girls' Junior Qualifier medalist, and she earned a spot in the U..S Women's Amateur.
"Abbey comes to us with a long history of State grads," Brown-Lemm said. "Her mom, Kay, played golf here. Her dad, Chuck, played baseball and her uncle, John Bond, played football. But she has earned her spot in our program through hard work and dedication. Abbey has a strong stature for powerful ball striking and unlimited potential to get it done on the course."
