Stuedeman Releases 2018 Fall Slate

STARKVILLE – Eight contests, including three doubleheader matchups within the friendly confines of Nusz Park, highlight Mississippi State softball's fall schedule.
Head coach Vann Stuedeman announced the Bulldogs' fall slate on Thursday, which features a total of six contests in Starkville.
"We are ready to get back on the field and see what this team of returners and newcomers can do," said associate head coach Samantha Ricketts. "We have six games at home at Nusz Park and two on the road. We are excited to travel to Birmingham and Troy for our two ovarian cancer awareness games in honor of Alex Wilcox. We will be auctioning off the teal uniforms worn by Mississippi State, UAH and Troy with all proceeds going to the ovarian cancer foundation chosen by the Wilcox family. Please make plans to join us in Alex's home state as we continue to raise awareness and support this cause!"
MSU opens its fall season on Friday, Oct. 19 in Birmingham, Alabama, when the Bulldogs take on the University of Alabama at Huntsville. First pitch is set for 7 p.m. CT and features a sibling rivalry as the Chargers are coached by Stuedeman's older sister Les Stuedeman. MSU will continue its road slate at 8 p.m. CT on Friday, Oct. 26 at Troy with a battle against the Trojans.
Both road contests will be ovarian cancer awareness games to continue to spread the legacy and the lasting memory of Alex Wilcox. UAH and Troy will join the Bulldogs by wearing special teal uniforms, which will be auctioned off following the games. All proceeds will be donated to an ovarian cancer foundation chosen by the Wilcox family.
The first of three doubleheaders at Nusz Park begins on Sunday, Oct. 28 when the Bulldogs host Itawamba Community College, the defending MACJC regular-season champions, at 2 p.m. CT. MSU will return to Nusz on Friday, Nov. 9 at 5 p.m. CT with two contests against Mississippi College.
State wraps up its fall slate on Saturday, Nov. 10 against Pensacola State College. The home doubleheader is set for a 1 p.m. CT first pitch.
The Bulldogs will hold their team practice of the fall on Sunday, Oct. 7 at 9 a.m. CT inside Nusz Park.
