MSU Men's Hoops Tabbed 4th; Weatherspoon Garners Pre-Season All-SEC

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Mississippi State men's basketball team was predicted to finish fourth by a select panel of SEC and national media members announced Wednesday by the league office.
The fourth-place nod is the highest pre-season prognostication for the Bulldogs since the SEC moved to its current format with no divisions leading into the 2011-12 season. The last time Mississippi State was chosen as the SEC's pre-season favorite was in 2010-11.
Quinndary Weatherspoon tucked away pre-season All-SEC Second-Team honors for the third consecutive season. He joins the illustrious list of Tennessee's Allan Houston along with Kentucky's Keith Bogans and Alex Poythress as the only players to notch three pre-season All-SEC accolades. Weatherspoon also received votes for SEC Pre-Season Player of the Year for the second straight season.
Weatherspoon, Aric Holman and head coach Ben Howland will take part in SEC Tipoff '19 later today at the Grand Bohemian Hotel Mountain Brook in Birmingham, Alabama.
Mississippi State takes on Georgia Southwestern in a 2 p.m. CT exhibition tilt on Sunday, Nov. 4. Then, the Bulldogs will square off with Austin Peay to open the regular season on Friday, Nov. 9. Tipoff is slated for 6:30 p.m. from the Hump. Both games will be streamed by SEC Network + and available online only via the WatchESPN platform.
The Mississippi State Athletics Ticket Office is selling season tickets for as low as $199. Fans can purchase tickets online at www.HailState.com/Hoops, in person at the MSU Athletics Ticket Office located at the Bryan Athletic Building or via the phone at (888) 463-2947 (GO-DAWGS). Information on single-game tickets and mini plans will be announced at a later date by the ticket office.
