Coach Darty comes to us after four very successful years as the head coach at Jacksonville, and I know her brand of volleyball will fit well with our culture here at MSU. She told me that the single most important word she will share with her team is grit. Under Coach Darty, we can expect to see tough, resilient and attacking volleyball that I know our fans will appreciate and respect. I hope you'll join me in welcoming her to the family when you see her around campus and Starkville!
With SEC play underway, we've got three big-time basketball games in the next few days and I ask all who are able to come pack out Humphrey Coliseum for our Bulldogs this weekend. Coach Schaefer and his No. 3-ranked women host Ole Miss Thursday night at 8 p.m. and then welcome Alabama Sunday afternoon at 3. On Saturday at 2:30, Coach Howland and our men's team host Auburn for yet another big SEC tilt.
The success of our basketball teams this season is a direct result of the support you have given them over the years and throughout the last two months. The most important thing we can do to ensure those successes continue and multiply is to keep showing up to every game, cheering as loud as we can and being as passionate as possible about our Bulldogs. I know how much the support of a big crowd means to our coaches and players and I look forward to providing them with that this weekend and in the weeks and months to come.
With the start of the spring semester comes the start of spring sports, and our men's tennis and track and field teams are the first to kick off the action. Make plans to join us before women's basketball on Sunday at the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre as Coach Roberts and his No. 14-ranked Bulldogs take on UAB at 1 p.m. to begin their spring slate.
Meanwhile, Coach Dudley and our track and field team will be on UAB's campus for the UAB Blazer Invite in Birmingham. Good luck to all of our men and women starting their seasons this weekend!
We appreciate what you do for Mississippi State Athletics and want to encourage you to get others involved. There are three things you can do to help the athletic department at Mississippi State reach its desired goals:
1. Buy Season Tickets
2. Financially Support the Bulldog Club
3. Get Others To Do The Same
Thanks for taking the time to read this update.
Hail State!
