STARKVILLE, Miss. – Three former Mississippi State Bulldogs are on the active rosters of NFL playoff teams, which get underway this weekend.
Defensive end Chris Jones, a three-year letterwinner with the Bulldogs from 2013-15, kicks off wild card weekend when his Kansas City Chiefs host the Tennessee Titans at 3:35 p.m. CT Saturday on ESPN. Jones completed his second NFL season with 32 tackles, four forced fumbles and 6.5 sacks.
Veteran defensive tackle Kyle Love just finished his ninth NFL regular season and fourth with the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers travel to face the New Orleans Saints at 3:40 p.m. CT Sunday on FOX. Love is no stranger to playoff action as this is his sixth season in which he has reached the NFL playoffs.
Fletcher Cox's Philadelphia Eagles secured a bye and will host an opponent next Saturday. Cox continues to be one of the most dominant linemen in the game, earning a Pro Bowl spot for the third straight season and receiving second-team All-Pro honors. Cox compiled 5.5 sacks, four tackles for loss, and a career-best 34 quarterback hits/pressures.
In addition, three former Bulldogs are on the practice squad rosters of playoff teams – linebacker Richie Brown (Panthers), cornerback Will Redmond (Chiefs) and wide receiver Fred Brown (Rams). Former first-team All-SEC wide receiver Fred Ross is currently on injured reserve for the Panthers.
