On that note, mark your calendars for several events around the diamond coming soon. Baseball Fan Day will take place on Sunday February 11 from 4-6, and Cowbell Yell will return once again to kick off baseball season on February 13 at 6 p.m. You can find more info on each of those events here. And already we are hardly two weeks away from the start of softball season when our Bulldogs host the annual Maroon Classic in Starkville starting February 9. With so much happening already and even more on the horizon, I'm looking forward to seeing everyone on campus!
After a stretch of time on the road, both of our basketball teams are back at home in the coming days for important SEC matchups. Fresh off a big win at Tennessee, Coach Schaefer and our No. 2-ranked women's team – the highest ranking in program history! – welcome Florida to town on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m.. To stay up to date with the team, be sure to join us at The Veranda or tune in on the radio for Dawg Talk with Coach Schaefer Wednesday night at 7.
Then, on Saturday, Coach Howland and our men's team are back at home at 7:30 p.m. against Missouri. We need a big crowd for both games as our teams continue to navigate their SEC slates.
Few things are more enjoyable than watching great coaches and their teams in action, and the start of spring sports has offered us ample opportunities to appreciate some talented Bulldogs. Already, our tennis teams are a combined 5-0 after Coach Roberts and his young men won two big matches against South Florida and Miami over the weekend, while Coach Greenan and his ladies opened their season on Monday with back-to-back wins over Arkansas State in a late afternoon doubleheader. Both teams are on the road this week for the ITA Kick-Off Weekend, and we wish them good luck as they represent Mississippi State across the country!
Meanwhile, Coach Dudley and the men and women of our track and field team had great success at the Vanderbilt Invitational over the weekend, evidenced not just by the No. 18 ranking for our ladies, but by middle distance runner Marco Arop being named the SEC Freshman of the Week after winning the 800-meter run with the second-fastest time in the nation and the fastest time in the SEC this year. Congratulations to our Bulldogs on their many successes!
We appreciate what you do for Mississippi State Athletics and want to encourage you to get others involved. There are three things you can do to help the athletic department at Mississippi State reach its desired goals:
1. Buy Season Tickets
2. Financially Support the Bulldog Club
3. Get Others To Do The Same
Thanks for taking the time to read this update.
Hail State!
