As I write you this week, I want to begin by thanking everyone for an incredible home football opener over the weekend as Coach Mullen's team put on such an impressive performance shutting out Charleston Southern. Despite the holiday weekend, Bulldogs showed up in droves to support the team, which is something I know means a great deal to the players and coaches throughout the game.

Just like our Bulldogs on the field, those of us who run operations off the field strive to get better from week-to-week, as well. I came away very pleased with our staff and the event they put on from top to bottom, and a good opening performance means we will set the bar even higher for each home game as the season goes along. We want our fans to have the best experience possible from the moment they arrive on campus until the minute they leave. We encourage and appreciate feedback from all of you, good or bad, about your time in Starkville and on campus when you come to visit, so don't hesitate to contact us with any of your thoughts.

As we move forward, we wish Coach Mullen and the team good luck this weekend at Louisiana Tech. For those making the trip down to Ruston, be sure to visit www.hailstate.com/gameday for all the available information. Then next week we'll be back with a full weekend of Cowbell Yell on Thursday, Bulldog Bash on Friday and our game against LSU in Davis Wade Stadium on Saturday.

SOCCER, VOLLEYBALL RACK UP WINS AT HOME

Big congratulations go out to two of our teams for picking up impressive wins over the weekend, and as we congratulate them, I again say thank you to our incredible fans who helped provide tremendous home atmospheres for ALL of our teams over the weekend. First-year head soccer coach Tom Anagnost and his ladies continued their impressive start to the season, checking in with a dominant 6-2 win over Colgate on Sunday to advance their record to 5-0 on the year. Meanwhile, Coach McFatrich and our volleyball team picked up three more wins over the weekend while hosting the Bulldog Invitational, improving their early season record to 5-3.

Make plans to join us on Sunday as soccer hosts South Alabama at 1 p.m., our only home event of the weekend and the team's last match before the SEC schedule begins.

CROSS COUNTRY, GOLF SEASONS UNDERWAY

To begin, congratulations to Coach Franks and the ladies of our cross country team for an impressive start to their season as they took home the title in the Golden Eagle Cross Country Invitational on Saturday morning. Already ranked in the Top 25, our Bulldogs are primed to continue building on the great success they have had in recent years.

A few states over, Coach Brown-Lemm and our women's golf team began their own season with a solid performance in South Carolina at the Ocean Course Invitational on Kiawah Island.

Following up right behind the women, our men's golf team opens its season at Kiawah Island this weekend, as well, the debut of first-year head coach Dusty Smith. We wish all of our Bulldogs good luck as their seasons are underway.

We appreciate what you do for Mississippi State Athletics and want to encourage you to get others involved. There are three things you can do to help the athletic department at Mississippi State reach its desired goals:

2. Financially Support the Bulldog Club
3. Get Others To Do The Same
