Notable on this week's schedule on campus is the beginning of preseason practices for our men's and women's basketball teams. With Coach Schaefer's team coming off a National Championship Game appearance and as excitement grows for the future of our men's program under Coach Howland, we have a great deal to be excited about for our basketball programs.
On that note, I hope you'll help us in filling up Humphrey Coliseum for both teams this year and help create the homecourt advantage we've always been known for. Additionally, a reminder that the season-opener for both teams is a single-night ticket that is not a part of the season ticket package for either team and must be purchased individually. For season tickets and opening-night tickets alike, visit www.hailstate.com/tickets.
We have a couple significant games in the next two days that I hope all of you will join me in attending. Tonight at 8 on ESPNU, Coach McFatrich and our volleyball team host Ole Miss in a nationally-televised rivalry game, and I want to create an incredible atmosphere to help spur our Bulldogs on to victory and show the country how great our fans are. Our volleyball team also hosts Kentucky on Sunday at 2 p.m. in Newell-Grissom.
Then on Friday, Coach Anagnost and the ladies of our soccer team continue SEC play by hosting Auburn at 7 p.m. If you haven't yet had a chance to watch the team, they've made incredible strides in a short time under the new coaching staff. Make plans to come cheer them on.
MEN'S GOLF OPENS SEASON, WOMEN HOST MAGNOLIA INVITATIONAL
Meanwhile, a big congratulations to Coach Dusty Smith whose debut as our men's golf coach resulted in finishing third out of 12 teams in the Bearcat Invitational in Cincinnati this week, highlighted by a second place finish for sophomore Ping Pichaikool. Our Bulldogs are back in action in Birmingham next week in the Jerry Pate Intercollegiate.
We appreciate what you do for Mississippi State Athletics and want to encourage you to get others involved. There are three things you can do to help the athletic department at Mississippi State reach its desired goals:
1. Buy Season Tickets
2. Financially Support the Bulldog Club
3. Get Others To Do The Same
Thanks for taking the time to read this update.
Hail State!
