What a great time to be a Bulldog! Last weekend on campus and in all of Starkville was an absolute blast from start to finish with so many events, games and reunions of Bulldog fans from all over. In all facets, we had a historic weekend as over 30,000 people helped break records for Bulldog Bash downtown, while Coach Mullen and our football team recorded the greatest margin of victory over LSU in program history and the largest winning margin against a ranked opponent since 1943.

In true Mississippi State fashion, our fans helped create one of the greatest atmospheres in college sports, packing out Davis Wade Stadium from the first play to the last. I can hardly tell you how great it was to look around the stadium at the end of the fourth quarter and hardly see an empty seat in the entire place, highlighted by a completely full student section cheering loudly and singing the alma mater with the team after the win. This weekend was truly a thrill from beginning to end and I thank all of you who helped make it such a great experience. Coach Mullen said this after the game and I'll say it again now: our fans truly have an impact on the game and you help give Mississippi State an incredible home-field advantage on nights like Saturday.

As we move forward in the season, we wish our Bulldogs good luck this weekend in Athens as they take on Georgia in one of the weekend's premier Top-25 matchups. For those making the trip, be sure to join us at the official MSU tailgate hosted by the Alumni Association. Details are available here.

On a final football note, our full 2018 schedule was officially released yesterday, so you can now begin making plans for next fall.

SOCCER, VOLLEYBALL HOST FIRST SEC MATCHES OF THE FALL

While our football Bulldogs head east this weekend, our soccer and volleyball teams will be right here at home on Thursday and Friday nights for some big-time SEC tilts. Our 6-1-1 soccer Bulldogs are rolling as their season moves along, and Thursday night they have their first home conference game of the season, hosting Missouri at 7 p.m. with an SEC Network+ broadcast for those who can't make it to town.

Meanwhile, our volleyball team is fresh off a big 2-1 stretch at home last weekend and they're back in action at Newell-Grissom on Friday as they host South Carolina at 7 p.m., also an SEC Network+ broadcast.

MEN'S GOLF OPENS SEASON MONDAY

With so much going on in MSU Athletics right now, I am particularly excited to watch our men's golf team begin their first year under new head coach Dusty Smith this week. Our Bulldogs are off to Cincinnati on Monday and Tuesday for the Bearcat Invitational after Hurricane Irma forced cancellation of their original season-opener in South Carolina. Coach Smith and our young men have been training throughout the offseason and I know our players have been responding positively to the young, energetic, experienced and successful staff we have on campus now. Good luck to our Bulldogs as they start a new era of MSU Golf!

CROSS COUNTRY TEAMS DOMINATE FALCON CLASSIC

A big congratulations goes out to Coach Houston Franks and our men's and women's cross country teams for an absolutely dominant performance this week at the Falcon Classic in Alabama. Our Bulldogs swept the weekend, winning both the men's and women's overall, as well as both medalist honors. Coach Franks has built strong programs on both sides over the years and we are once again very proud of what our student-athletes are accomplishing, and we are certainly tracking the successes of our No. 24-ranked women's team as they continue to move up the rankings.

We appreciate what you do for Mississippi State Athletics and want to encourage you to get others involved. There are three things you can do to help the athletic department at Mississippi State reach its desired goals:

1. Buy Season Tickets
2. Financially Support the Bulldog Club
3. Get Others To Do The Same
