Good afternoon and happy Wednesday to all on another busy week at Mississippi State. We've had games, scrimmages, announcements and more over the last several days with even more action on the way. It arrived quickly, but we are now only one week away from the beginning of football season, Coach Mullen's ninth year leading our Bulldogs onto the field.As we approach the final days before the season, a reminder that throughout the year we recommend visiting www.hailstate.com/gameday for all information regarding football game days from maps and parking to times and events. We will have more detailed information in this space next week and will distribute details in a variety of forms, but we have some changes in traffic flow among other small changes that you'll want to make sure you are aware of before arriving in Starkville and on campus.
In the meantime, new banners are going up on the side of Davis Wade Stadium, student tickets have been sold, the field is being painted and cared for, the team is practicing and the final touches are being put on everything as we are just days away from game week. Can't wait to see everyone next weekend!
SOCCER BACK AT HOME SUNDAY AFTER 2-0 STARTA big congratulations goes to Coach Tom Anagnost and our soccer team for opening their season with two victories at home over the weekend, including a particularly entertaining 1-0 win on Friday night in front of the biggest crowd in program history. Our young ladies are already responding well to the new staff and it is great to see so many of our fans joining in on the fun.
Our soccer Bulldogs are back in action this weekend, hosting Central Arkansas on Sunday at 1 p.m. after playing their first road match on Thursday at Louisiana Tech, so be sure to come out and cheer them on again.
VOLLEYBALL OPENS SEASON ON THE ROAD FRIDAYEntering his third year at the helm of the program, Coach David McFatrich and his volleyball team officially open their season this weekend, traveling to Dallas for the SMU Doubletree Invitational. Our Bulldogs will face strong competition, playing two matches on Friday against SMU and Texas A&M Corpus Christi before taking the court against Rice on Saturday.
While we cheer them on from afar this week, we look forward to the team opening their home slate next weekend at Newell Grissom. We host the annual Bulldog Invitational throughout what will be a big weekend on campus, featuring matches on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Be sure to make MSU volleyball a part of your schedule next weekend!
BULLY PULPIT WELCOMES MEGAN MULLEN
Our host of The Bully Pulpit, Matt Wyatt, has done an excellent job of featuring guests with unique insight and interesting stories, and this week he continues that tradition as he is joined by Megan Mullen to discuss what it's like being a coach's wife as football season begins.
