Men’s Tennis: Summer Pro Circuit Roundup

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Since the last update, six Mississippi State men's tennis players saw more action in ITF Futures events over the month of July.
Nuno Borges played in his first tournament since rising nearly 200 spots in the ATP rankings to 652. In doubles, he teamed with fellow Bulldog Trevor Foshey. The pair reached the semifinals of the Portugal F13 Futures, dropping a hard-fought, three-setter to the top-seeded pair of Celikbilek/Yuksel.
In singles play, the rising junior once again battled his way through the main draw to win his second ITF Futures singles crown of the summer by downing second-seeded Andres Artunedo Martinavarr (ATP 438). The victory marked the fourth tournament won by the reigning Southeastern Conference Player of the Year, who also won a pair of ITF Futures doubles titles earlier in the summer.
Giovanni Oradini continued his impressive play in the Italy F21 Futures with an exciting opening-round victory against Carlo Donato before dropping a tough decision to fourth-seeded Gianluca Mager (ATP 330). On the doubles side, he advanced to the semis, where he and his partner lost a back-and-forth battle with the second-seeded pair of Enrico Dalla Valle and Andrea Pellegrino in three sets.
Oradini returned to action in the Italy F23 Futures in Pontedera, breezing through the qualifying draw before dropping a hard-fought contest with top-seeded Frederico Coria (ATP 244). In doubles, Oradini had a hand in defeating the top-seeded pair of Coria/Lipovsek Puches on the way to reaching the semifinals.
Strahinja Rakic began the Macedonia F1 Futures with a bang, working his way through the qualifying phase to make the main draw and downed Gorazd Srbljak. He also made the semifinals in doubles.
