As I flew to Jackson to watch Victoria Vivians win an incredible third-straight Gillom Trophy on Monday, I was reminded that the last few months of basketball for our women's team have gone down as one of the most historic stretches in the entire existence of our program. We have all watched as, at home and away, Coach Schaefer and the outstanding young women on his team have set record after record, carrying the program to levels it has never reached before and setting the bar higher every day for the future and those to come. By ascending to No. 2 in the country, a record high for the program, and by notching 29 wins, yet another high water mark for Mississippi State basketball, our ladies have completed the greatest regular season in school history.

With that in mind, it is here that we turn our attention to the postseason. We will host a watch party at The Hump on Monday for the NCAA Tournament Selection show, with an autograph session in the concourse from 4:30-5:30 p.m., followed by the program beginning at 5:45. Whether you join us in person or keep track from elsewhere, be sure to follow along on Monday night when the show airs.

From there, it is up to us to give this team the support they deserve if we host the first and second rounds of the tournament as we hope to do. Those games will be played next weekend, and I charge you all now to make plans to join us and pack out The Hump for this truly historic team as we cheer them on through the feats they will surely achieve. All-tournament tickets are on sale now through the ticket office and at www.hailstate.com/tickets for $40 for adults and $18 for youth 17 and under. We encourage those purchase tickets in advance to use the print-at-home delivery method. Individual game tickets will go on sale the morning before our first game, either Thursday March 16 or Friday March 17.

MEN'S BASKETBALL HOSTS BANQUET, COMPETES IN SEC TOURNEY

First off, we all wish Coach Howland and our young men good luck in the SEC Tournament this week, starting with their game against LSU tonight. I also want to congratulate Quinndary Weatherspoon for being named All-SEC as a sophomore and Lamar Peters for making the All-Freshman team. The future for this program is bright with so much young talent and I'm proud of our men for getting the recognition they deserve.

Also, I want to make everyone aware of a very special banquet our men's basketball team is hosting. On Saturday, March 25, the program will hold a brunch at 11 a.m. featuring an opportunity to eat with the team and spend one-on-one time with Coach Howland and our players. The event will be held on the practice court in the Mize Pavilion before our 2 p.m. baseball game that day against Tennessee and tickets are 20 dollars on a first-come, first-served basis, with a deadline of Sunday, March 19. TENNIS MOVING UP RANKINGS

Following a three-day stretch that included three-straight wins, one of them over a ranked Auburn team in the SEC opener, our men's tennis team is No. 16 in the country following a stellar start to the season. I've said as much before in this space, but tennis matches on campus are a tremendous fan experience, so I hope you'll join us in cheering the guys on tomorrow when we host Alabama at 3 p.m. for our first home SEC match.

Meanwhile, our No. 33 women's tennis team is coming off a big SEC win of their own, downing Alabama 4-3 at home this past Sunday in a very exciting match - their third straight win over the Crimson Tide. Good luck to the ladies this weekend as they play at No. 5 Vanderbilt and No. 20 Kentucky.
