As you've surely heard by now, our ladies were selected to host the first and second rounds of the Women's NCAA Tournament this weekend, slotted as a No. 2 national seed in the tourney. We set a program record this year for attendance, and I know you'll join us in supporting this historic team as they begin the postseason and continue their run.
We host Troy at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, so make plans in advance to get to Starkville early. Tickets are on sale now at www.hailstate.com/tickets or through the ticket office at 1-888-GO-DAWGS.
Ahead of this weekend's games, make sure to tune in tonight and join us at The Veranda for a special NCAA Tournament edition of DawgTalk with Coach Schaefer, and for all information relating to the events at The Hump, you can visit www.hailstate.com/ncaawbk for up-to-the-minute information.

It's going to be a big weekend on campus, so make sure you're stopping by for everything we have going on while you're here for basketball. I should start with a congratulations to our women's track team, recently ranked the No. 10 program of the year in the country. Coach Steve Dudley does a tremendous job with our track and field teams, and we host our one home event of the year this weekend. The Mississippi State Relays will be taking place all day Friday and Saturday at the Sanders Track Complex, so come check out the action.
Meanwhile, our softball team gets back to town for its first home SEC series of the year, hosting conference foe Alabama at 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 2 p.m. on Sunday. Coach Stuedeman's team has notched a 20-5 record to this point in the year, which includes a big upset win over No. 5 Texas A&M last weekend, and they are more than deserving of big crowds and great support this weekend and all others.
And while we're discussing teams worthy of cheer, Coach Greenan and our women's tennis team are back in town for a pair of big SEC matches at the Pitts Tennis Centre, hosting Missouri on Friday at 3 p.m. and No. 15 Arkansas on Sunday at 1 p.m.

I want to start here by saying what an enjoyable stretch of baseball the last five days were, and congratulations to Coach Cannizaro and the guys for going 5-0 in that stretch. Our Bulldogs scored 37 runs in that five-game winning streak, helping to make it an entertaining weekend of baseball at Dudy Noble. We wish them good luck as they travel to Arkansas this week to open SEC play.
A reminder here, as well, that we play Southern Miss in Trustmark Park in Pearl on Tuesday night at 6:30, so I hope our central Mississippi fans will be able to join us for the evening before we welcome the team back to Starkville against Tennessee next weekend.

This week is the last chance for tickets to our men's basketball banquet, which cost $20 each and are on sale only until this Sunday. On Saturday, March 25, the program will hold a brunch at 11 a.m. featuring an opportunity to eat with the team and spend one-on-one time with Coach Howland and our players. The event will be held on the practice court in the Mize Pavilion before our 2 p.m. baseball game that day against Tennessee and tickets are on a first-come, first-served basis. Visit www.hailstate.com/tickets or call the ticket office to secure yours.
