It's been said before and will be said again many times, but springtime at MSU is one of the most enjoyable times of the year. We all look forward to Super Bulldog Weekend (make plans to join us April 7-9), but when you look at the schedules, just about every weekend from now until the end of the semester is lined up to be full of fun, sun and Mississippi State Athletics. Those of us on campus and in Starkville look forward to hosting Bulldogs from across the state, country and even globe over the next few months.
My recommendation as you prepare yourselves for these weekends is to make sure you're not missing out on some great experiences by sticking to the traditional "Big Three" sports. At MSU, we have a Big 16 to choose from. Those who have spent time talking with our softball players after games, or have been present for high-intensity tennis matches when the players who have already finished come into the stands to cheer with the rest of the crowd, can attest to how much there is to see and do in the spring.
If you haven't checked out everything we have going on, take these next weeks and months to give it a shot. I'm confident you'll enjoy it.

The annual kickoff to baseball season, Cowbell Yell will take place at Dudy Noble on Thursday at 6 p.m. before our women's basketball game that night at 8 in The Hump. The event is driven by our student group, The Dudes, but we encourage all fans to come by for our pep rally and introduction of Coach Cannizaro and the team as he enters his first year as our new head coach.
Then, on Saturday, we will host our annual Fan Day in the Palmeiro Center. Doors open at 9:45 a.m., and the team arrives for autographs at 10:15. Stick around afterward for the team's scrimmage at 1:30 p.m.
Baseball season begins next weekend and I can't wait to get the year started. I am always proud to tell others that we have the best fans in college baseball, and these are the events that kick it off.

Starting off her sixth year at the helm of the program, Coach Vann Stuedeman and the young ladies of our softball team get their season started this weekend with the Bulldog Kickoff Classic as they play five games in three days as part of the tournament.
Those who didn't get the opportunity to see our new stadium last year will be immensely impressed with Nusz Park and the entire facility we opened last spring. It's a beautiful park that helps create an incredibly enjoyable atmosphere. I look forward to watching the team this weekend and I hope to see many of you there.

It's a recurring theme here this time of year, but again we find ourselves ready to host a pair of big SEC games for our men's and women's basketball teams over the next few days. First, Coach Schaefer and his No. 3 Bulldogs welcome Vanderbilt to town on Thursday with tipoff at 8 p.m. and a national broadcast on the SEC Network. Then on Saturday, Coach Howland and his men's team hosts South Carolina at 7 p.m. on ESPN2.
As both teams are in their final stretch of the regular season, let's give them the best support possible by providing full, loud and encouraging crowds over these next few weeks.

We now wish good luck to our men's and women's golf teams as their seasons arrive. Our men start tournament play later this month and have been hard at practice at our new golf facility at Old Waverly, while our women began their season over the weekend. Congratulations to Coach Ginger Brown-Lemm and her young ladies for an impressive performance finishing tied for third place at the highly-competitive UCF Challenge. Additionally, we're very proud of senior Jessica Peng for finishing first place and winning the entire tournament by one stroke. Well done, Jessica!

BULLY PULPIT TALKS SPRING SUCCESS
In this week's episode of The Bully Pulpit, I joined Matt Wyatt for an extensive discussion on MSU Athletics, with a particular focus on many of our spring sports like baseball, softball, tennis and track and field. You can listen here, and don't forget you can subscribe by searching "Hail State" on iTunes and SoundCloud.

We appreciate what you do for Mississippi State Athletics and want to encourage you to get others involved. There are three things you can do to help the athletic department at Mississippi State reach its desired goals –
1. Buy Season Tickets
2. Financially Support the Bulldog Club
3. Get Others To Do The Same
Thanks for taking the time to read this Update. Â
