February 28, 2017 | Football
INDIANAPOLIS – Wide receiver Fred Ross and offensive tackle Justin Senior will represent Mississippi State football in front of hundreds of NFL executives, coaches and scouts at the 2017 NFL Scouting Combine this week in Indianapolis.
In addition to meeting with respective teams, Ross and Senior will go through six measurable drills – 40-yard dash, bench press, vertical jump, broad jump, three-cone drill and shuttle run.
Senior joins the offensive line group for measurements on Wednesday before on-field workouts Friday. Ross and the remainder of the wideouts will be measured Thursday and participate in Saturday on-field workouts. NFL Network will televise the entire event.
Under head coach Dan Mullen, 27 MSU players have been invited to the NFL Combine since 2010. View a list of former MSU players who have been invited to the event since 1999 here.
Senior is the first Bulldog offensive lineman to participate at the NFL Combine since Gabe Jackson in 2014. The Montreal, Quebec, native has skyrocketed up mock drafts as one of the top 15 offensive tackle prospects on the board. A three-year starter and the 2016 recipient of the Kent Hull Trophy, Senior is also being highly scouted by the CFL.
Ross, a two-time first-team All-SEC receiver, has been projected as a day three NFL Draft pick. The 2016 SEC leader in touchdown catches (12), Ross shattered seven school records in his MSU career, including consecutive games with a reception (35), receptions (199), 100-yard receiving games (10) and receiving yards (2,528).
Both Ross and Senior played in the Senior Bowl last month in Mobile. The two are expected to attend MSU's Pro Day on March 22 along with several other aspiring pro Bulldogs who exhausted their eligibility last fall.
