I am particularly excited for opening day at Dudy Noble, as Coach Cannizaro and the defending SEC Champions begin the 2017 season at home. We've got four games to fill the weekend, including two against a talented and ranked Texas Tech team coming off a College World Series appearance last year. Our guys are excited for the crowds they've grown accustomed to at The Dude and I know Coach Cannizaro can't wait to coach his first game in the Maroon and White.
We're all looking forward to another great season on the diamond with the best fans in college baseball. Our first game is on Friday against Texas Tech at 4 p.m., followed by another 4 p.m. game against Western Illinois on Saturday and a doubleheader on Sunday featuring our Bulldogs against both teams beginning at noon. I look forward to seeing you there.

I'll start here by congratulating our women's team, now up to No. 3 in the country in both polls. Coach Schaefer's ladies host Georgia tomorrow night at 7, their second-to-last home game of the year. Meanwhile, Coach Howland's men host Florida at 1 p.m. on Saturday and then welcome Ole Miss to Starkville on Tuesday night at 8. Let's pack out The Hump as our basketball teams get through the home stretch of the regular season.
That said, chances are good that the regular season will not be the end of games in Humphrey Coliseum this year. When the regular season finishes and host sites are announced for the women's NCAA Tournament, we hope to be among those rewarded for their performance by hosting the first two rounds. If such an event occurs, we will get out information as quickly possible on how to secure tickets.

First, among our many events on campus this weekend, I hope you can make time on Sunday to join Coach Greenan and our 24th-ranked women's team as they host a doubleheader at the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre. We play South Alabama at 11 a.m. and then close out the day with Alcorn State at 3 p.m.
We also wish good luck to Coach Roberts and our ranked men's team as they compete in the 16-team ITA National Indoor Championships this weekend in Charlottesville, Va., after earning a berth with some big non-conference wins last month. It will be our men's program's 11th appearance in the prestigious event all-time. The 15th-seeded Bulldogs will take on second-seeded Wake Forest Friday at 11 a.m. CT to open the tournament.

And finally, we wish good luck to our many teams on the road this weekend. Our men's golf team opens the season at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate, while our women are back in action in New Orleans at the AllState Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate after a big performance last week.
And while the weather looks sunny and warm for the weekend, I can't help but to be a little bit jealous of Coach Stuedeman and our softball team who are off to Mexico for the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge this week.
Good luck to all our Bulldogs on the road this week!
