However, while the academic semester is over, the athletic calendar is as full as ever with big-time basketball games, bowl practices and the like taking place on campus throughout the holiday season. We hope you'll be joining us in Starkville, in Jacksonville, and if nothing else, in spirit, as we cheer on our Bulldogs from all over the state and country these next weeks. And on that note, a reminder here to visit www.hailstate.com/tickets for all events, and for those planning to travel with the football team down to Florida, check out www.hailstate.com/gameday for up-to-the-minute information and updates.
As I mentioned, it's a big week of basketball for MSU, and it includes three important home games over the next five days. It all starts tonight with one of college basketball's premier non-conference matchups of the year. Two Top-10 teams will face off in The Hump tonight as Coach Schaefer and his Bulldogs welcome the Oregon Ducks to town for a 6 p.m. tipoff. Even if you have to arrive late, you'll want to be at Humphrey Coliseum for this one, and as incentive for the early arrivers, the first 500 people in attendance will receive a free Little Debbie Christmas tree cake.
Then we'll be back for two more games this weekend as Coach Howland and the men host UT Martin at 7 p.m. on Saturday night, followed by our women getting back in action on Sunday at 2 p.m. against Maine. Our fans have a done a great job of providing a homecourt advantage this year, and I know our coaches and players are looking forward to that continuing as the non-conference portion of the schedule winds down.
A reminder that, while we always encourage our ticket holders to attend as much as possible, if you can't make it to a game, you can transfer tickets (for free) to a friend through our transfer system. For details, please visit www.hailstate.com/transfers to find easy-to-follow instructions and rewards available for transferring your tickets.
It is still months away, but I wanted to share as quickly as possible that there is a change in the dates for the biggest weekend of the year at Mississippi State as Super Bulldog Weekend 2018 will now take place April 20-22. The move comes in an effort to maximize the time that Coach Moorhead has with the football team during spring practice, and to allow the new staff to have the most effective spring possible as they teach and develop our young men.
As always, we want to make sure the annual Maroon-White football scrimmage is a part of the weekend. Along with the usual festivities, we will also have a bevy of home events, including our baseball series against Arkansas and our softball series against Florida that weekend. I look forward to celebrating SBW 2018 with everyone!
With this change, one ticketing item of note - reserved baseball seats for Super Bulldog Weekend that have already been purchased will now apply to the Arkansas series.
Those who attend football games will be familiar with this move as the SEC is implementing the same clear bag policy for basketball as it has for football stadiums. This policy will take effect beginning in January with the start of SEC games at The Hump, so be sure you are prepared when you come back for games after the break.
The safety of all in attendance is of the highest importance for us at MSU and for everyone in the conference, and we feel that this policy will help maintain that safety and peace of mind we have always had here. Be sure to visit www.hailstate.com/clearbag for more information on the details of this policy.
We appreciate what you do for Mississippi State Athletics and want to encourage you to get others involved. There are three things you can do to help the athletic department at Mississippi State reach its desired goals:
1. Buy Season Tickets
2. Financially Support the Bulldog Club
3. Get Others To Do The Same
Thanks for taking the time to read this update.
Hail State!
