Bulldogs Stay Consistent In Round Two Of The Battle At The Beach

CABO SAN LUCAS , Miss. – For the second consecutive day, the Mississippi State women's golf team notched a 296 scorecard behind strong back-nine play in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, at the Battle At The Beach.
MSU opened the Baylor University-hosted event Saturday tougher than expected, but after making the adjustments at the turn, the Bulldogs began to heat up to end the day in 10th place.
Athena Yang paced the Bulldogs on Saturday. After a birdie on her 10th hole of the day, she wrapped up the back nine holes even par. Yang carded a 73 to sit in a tie for 35th.
Kendall Wisenbaker and Clara Moyano both carded 74s in Saturday's second round. Wisenbaker was the only Bulldogs to collect a birdie on the opening nine after she drained a birdie on the par-5 13th. Moyano tied the team high with three birdies on the back nine.
Aubree Jones remained in the Top 25 in the event after shooting a 3-over 75 Saturday.
Coming back from an 8-over front nine, Katie Holt made the turn and began to heat up. The junior carded back-to-back birdies on Nos. 4 and 5 and again on No. 8 en route to shaving seven strokes from her first nine holes. She ended the back nine 1-under par for a 78 total on the day.
MSU wraps up the Battle at the Beach Sunday at 7:30 A.M. for a shotgun start final round.
