STARKVILLE, Miss. – A speedy center fielder that has broken records and racked up accolades, Jamie Gregg will join Mississippi State as the second signee of the 2018 class.
"We're thrilled about Jamie joining our Bulldog softball family," head coach Vann Stuedeman said. "She represents all of the qualities that epitomize our program: strong character, team oriented, enthusiastic, faith filled and possesses a champion's mindset. Her athleticism and experience will most assuredly make a positive impact in our program."
A product of Hoover High School, Gregg is a two-sport athlete, earning four letters in volleyball as a setter and leading She the Buccaneers to four area championships. Gregg did not play softball as a freshman at Hoover to focus on a future in collegiate volleyball; but when she hit the field as a sophomore, Gregg did not waste time leaving her mark on the sport and becoming a major star on the scene.
"On my first visit, I knew Mississippi State was where I wanted to be," Gregg said. "I love the friendly atmosphere in Starkville, the impressive softball facilities and the beautiful campus. The coaching staff has shown tremendous support throughout my high school career. I can't wait to play for them in the Maroon and White!"

In her first season of playing softball with the Buccaneers, Gregg led Alabama 7A class in runs scored and stolen bases, setting the Hoover High School record with 58 stolen bases. She held a .425 average at the plate to earn Most Valuable Offensive Player honors, while adding a flawless fielding percentage to grab Most Valuable Defensive Player accolades.
The laurels kept rolling in over her debut season as she earned Over the Mountain All-Tournament and Class 7A Area All-Tournament Team honors. She was selected to the Birmingham Area All-Metro Team and was named to the Alabama All-State First Team. She closed her sophomore campaign with national recognition as the National Fastpitch Association added her to its All-Region team.
Gregg had a strong start to her junior season with a .440 batting average and a staggering .960 on-base percentage to earn a spot on the North Alabama All-Star Team. Gregg was sidelined for the end of the season with an ACL injury, which she has already overcome to play her senior season of volleyball for the Buccaneers and is primed for another strong softball season in the spring.
On the travel ball scene, Gregg played for Mark Weekly as part of the Tennessee Fury Premier.
Academically, she is a member of the National Honor Society and the National Spanish Honor Society. She also spends time volunteering at the Children's Hospital of Alabama and at local elementary schools.
Gregg is planning on majoring in biological sciences. Outside of softball, she enjoys hiking, drawing and playing Frisbee. She is also a five-time All-State violinist.
