Your support for four quarters truly does impact the game and spur our Bulldogs on to even greater heights. I'd like to share with you the words of a reporter who was in town covering the game this weekend. This, from Chandler Rome of the Anniston Star: "The atmosphere inside Davis Wade Stadium is unlike anything I've ever seen. It's the best gameday experience and atmosphere I've seen in more than 10 years of attending and covering SEC football."
His praise is just the latest in the string of compliments we've been receiving in recent years, and it is all thanks to you. We've got another opportunity at home this year to do it one more time when we host the Egg Bowl next Thursday on Thanksgiving night. There are still a limited number of tickets available at www.hailstate.com/tickets if you haven't purchased yours yet. I can't wait to pack out Davis Wade one last time in 2017.
Even with football out of town, we've still got a lot going on in town this weekend, starting tomorrow with a home game for Coach Schaefer and our No. 7-ranked Bulldogs. Coming off a blowout win over Virginia in last week's season-opener, our ladies host Georgia State at 7 p.m. Thursday, then come back to The Hump at 2 p.m. on Sunday to host Southern Miss.
We announced this at the beginning of the week, but I want to make sure everyone is aware of the time change on Saturday for men's basketball. In an effort to make it easier for you watch our football team against Arkansas at 11 a.m. on CBS and still make it to The Hump for basketball, our tip-off against Florida A&M has been moved to 3 p.m. on Saturday.
As I talk about our basketball teams, I'd also like to say thank you to the city of Starkville for helping in our collaboration on a new project as we put up a mural downtown along Washington Street last week. In addition to highlighting our basketball teams, the mural is a sign of unity and cohesion between the university and the city, a relationship that is vital to both parties. As you come to town, be sure to stop by and check it out.
As the fall semester draws to a close, our volleyball team has reached the final stretch of its season, with only two more chances for you to come out and cheer the team on in Starkville. We host Missouri at 7 on Friday night for our only home match of the weekend, and one week from today, our seniors will play their final game in Newell-Grissom as we have Senior Day next Wednesday at 3 p.m. against Texas A&M.
We appreciate what you do for Mississippi State Athletics and want to encourage you to get others involved. There are three things you can do to help the athletic department at Mississippi State reach its desired goals:
1. Buy Season Tickets
2. Financially Support the Bulldog Club
3. Get Others To Do The Same
Thanks for taking the time to read this update.
Hail State!
