Floyd "Pork Chop" Womack Named 2017 SEC Football Legend

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Floyd "Pork Chop" Womack, 2000 first-team All-American offensive lineman and an 11-year NFL veteran, will represent Mississippi State as part of the 2017 Southeastern Conference Legends class.
The league office unveiled the 14 representatives on Tuesday. The class will be honored at the 2017 SEC Football "Weekend of Champions" Dec. 1-2 in Atlanta, Ga. The annual SEC Legends Dinner will be held Fri., Dec. 1 at the Hyatt Regency in Atlanta and the group will also be recognized prior to the SEC Football Championship Game, which will be held at the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Sat., Dec. 2.
Womack, a Bulldog fan favorite, is one of the greatest offensive linemen in school history, starting in 31 games at tackle. The 2000 season saw him earn first-team Associated Press All-America and All-Southeastern Conference honors. He is one of two all-time MSU players to receive First-Team AP All-America status. Johnie Cooks did it in 1981.
Womack was a member of three Mississippi State bowl teams as well as the school's only SEC Western Division championship team in 1998. A fourth-round NFL draft pick in 2001, he went on to play in the NFL for 11 seasons for the Seattle Seahawks (2001-08), Cleveland Browns (2009-10) and Arizona Cardinals (2011). Womack started 71 NFL games before retiring at the end of the 2011 season.
Womack will be honored at MSU's Homecoming game against Kentucky on Oct. 21 in Davis Wade Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. CT.
