With four games still left on the 2017 regular season ledger, the Bulldogs are already bowl eligible for a school-record eighth consecutive season.
Â
While the coaches, players and staff of our football program are working so diligently to give us a team to be proud of, I want to make sure that we as fans do our part, as well. With the calendar turning to November, we are entering the last month of the regular season for our football team, and it comes during a crucial four-game stretch to end the year. Coaches and players alike have said how much of a difference a great crowd can make and, after our last game, Coach Mullen made it a point to emphasize postgame just how much of an impact a great crowd has and how much it helps our team win – listen here.
Â
Starting this Saturday at 11 a.m., we've got three more chances to pack out Davis Wade Stadium and give our Bulldogs the best home field advantage in the country. This season already has the makings of something special, and there is a great deal more we can still accomplish together. I can't wait to see everyone at Davis Wade on Saturday from the first kickoff to the final whistle. And if you're wondering what to wear, Saturday's game is a Black Out.
Â
BASKETBALL EXHIBITIONS THURSDAY, FRIDAY
Â
But the unofficial start for our teams is this weekend. We will be hosting two exhibition games at The Hump, one each for our men's and women's teams, and this will be your only chance this season to see the Bulldogs completely free of charge.
Â
On Thursday night, Coach Howland and our men host West Florida at 7, and on Friday night, Coach Schaefer and our women welcome Arkansas-Fort Smith for a 6 p.m. tipoff. There is a lot of excitement around our basketball programs and I'm looking forward to getting an early peek at both teams this week.
Â
HALL OF FAME INDUCTEES TO BE HONORED AT GALA
Â
We have four former football players in the group with Bill Buckley, John Correro, Walt Harris and Mario Haggan all returning to campus to be honored this weekend, while the late Phil Still, an all-time great for our baseball program, rounds out the 2017 class. The group will be honored on the field pre-game Saturday, and I want to invite all who are interested to join me at the Hall of Fame Gala in the Palmeiro Center's Bryce Griffis Boardroom on Friday night. The event begins at 5:30 with a cocktail reception, private autograph signing, seated dinner and awards ceremony. Tickets are available for purchase at www.msumclub.org for $100 per person, with proceeds benefitting the MSU M-Club Alumni Association.
Â
SOFTBALL ALSO AT HOME IN EXHIBITION GAMES

We appreciate what you do for Mississippi State Athletics and want to encourage you to get others involved. There are three things you can do to help the athletic department at Mississippi State reach its desired goals:
1. Buy Season Tickets
2. Financially Support the Bulldog Club
3. Get Others To Do The Same
Thanks for taking the time to read this update. Â
Hail State!
