Our women's golf program was proud to host the inaugural Magnolia Invitational at Old Waverly this week and I am quite proud of the event that so many people worked so hard to put on at one of the nation's premier golf courses.
All the while, Coach Anagnost and our soccer team have been steadily earning crucial SEC points, playing their second double-overtime game in a week as we hosted and tied Auburn on Sunday. Looking ahead, our soccer team comes back to town this Sunday as we host Kentucky at 2 p.m.
Then, next week, full weekends of home events kick back up. A reminder now to secure tickets for our next home football game as we host BYU on October 14. Visit www.hailstate.com/tickets to get yours.
While the team seasons for our tennis squads don't begin until the spring, both our men's and women's teams are in the midst of their fall slate and each of them are performing well.
We have an impressive four men (two singles players, one doubles team) who will be in the main draw at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa beginning Thursday, an even more impressive feat when considering that only 64 individuals in all of college tennis qualify for the event in singles and 32 teams in doubles.
Meanwhile, our women are now through two tournaments this fall with some solid results having been produced from both veterans and newcomers. They travel to Baylor this week for the H-E-B Invitational.
Both teams are coming off Top 20 national finishes last spring. Good luck to all of our Bulldogs going forward!
While we don't have many home events this week, there are several items I want to share in this space.
First, a big congratulations goes to Mississippi State's 2017 Homecoming Queen, our very own Victoria Vivians. We are incredibly proud of Tori and her accomplishments as a student and athlete at MSU.
Speaking of basketball, we will be hosting our annual Maroon Madness next Friday night, October 13. We will issue a release with full details of the event next week.
Another congratulations goes to Payton Harris as the senior became the all-time leader in digs in the history of Bulldog Volleyball this weekend.
And finally, while we have so many teams in action this fall, our baseball and softball teams both begin fall practice on Monday as they prepare for the spring.
Good luck to all of our Bulldogs at home or on the road, in practice or in games!
We appreciate what you do for Mississippi State Athletics and want to encourage you to get others involved. There are three things you can do to help the athletic department at Mississippi State reach its desired goals:
1. Buy Season Tickets
2. Financially Support the Bulldog Club
3. Get Others To Do The Same
Thanks for taking the time to read this update.
Hail State!
