De'Nahri Middleton – Jackson, MS
Six year old De'Nahri has faced his share of challenges. Before De'Nahri was born, he was diagnosed with a rare kidney disease called Hydronephorisis and a megauterer. At only five months old, he had his right kidney removed because of a blockage that prevented his kidneys from draining and severely damaged their functioning. De'Nahri would also need an additional nine surgeries to fix problems with his tonsils and adenoids and to repair a hernia. The surgeries were difficult on De'Nahri and his family, but they've remained upbeat and positive.
Â
De'Nahri continues to see several specialists at Children's of Mississippi for follow-up care. He has overcome many obstacles in his young life, but he can now look toward a bright future, including helping raise money for other kidney patients. Every year he participates in the Mississippi Kidney Foundation annual walk and family picnic. De'Nahri loves reading and watching John Cena, his favorite wrestler.

Have fun cheering on the Bulldogs, De'Nahri!
