On that note, congratulations are in order for Coach Mullen, his staff, the team and especially the seniors for finishing the 2016 campaign on a high and particularly entertaining note. On behalf of everyone in MSU Athletics, I want to thank the St. Petersburg Bowl and everyone involved in the game for their hospitality. It was a tremendous experience in St. Pete and one I know all who went were grateful to be part of.
2016 was a great year for those in the Maroon and White as we set records, won Championships, earned national recognition and continued to assert ourselves as one of the country's top programs in multiple sports. As the calendar flips to 2017, it is my genuine hope and expectation that the next year will be even better than the last.

Not a week goes by that our women's basketball program doesn't make headlines for their success, and I want to say again how proud and thrilled I am for the year Coach Schaefer and our No. 4 Bulldogs are having so far. At 15-0, this team is among the elite squads in the country, and I've loved seeing our fans treat them as such, showing up in droves for every home game.
As the SEC portion of the schedule begins, our support is more important than ever, and the number of home games will increase significantly from the non-conference slate, giving us even more opportunities to cheer this team on. After a dominant 74-48 win over LSU last weekend, our ladies are on the road this weekend, playing at Arkansas on Thursday and Tennessee on Sunday, with both games being broadcast online on SEC Network+. We welcome them back to The Hump on Thursday January 12 against Florida, a game broadcast nationally on SEC Network, and then again the following Monday evening as we host rival Ole Miss.

DAWGTALK, RELENTLESS BEGIN THIS WEEK
As we hit the SEC slate our men's and women's basketball seasons, it's important to share that two of our most enjoyable productions surrounding the teams will begin this week. Dawg Talk with Ben Howland begins tonight and will be hosted at The Veranda in Starkville every Wednesday from 7-8 p.m. I hope you'll join us at The Veranda for high quality food and radio, and for those who can't come in person, make sure to tune in each week. The show will also feature women's coach Vic Schaefer during the season as well. More info is available here.
We're also excited that Relentless returns this week, our weekly behind-the-scenes shows for both the men's and women's basketball teams. Our Hail State Productions team does an excellent job taking us inside the programs we love and is worth your time and attention each week.

While the weather may make it hard to believe, our spring slate of sports is fast approaching, with a half dozen teams beginning their seasons by the end of next month. With baseball and softball, golf and tennis, track and field, our chances to cheer on our student-athletes are never more bountiful than these spring semesters and I'm looking forward to seeing so many of our talented teams in action.
A reminder as we discuss the spring: make sure to secure season tickets for the 2017 baseball season if you haven't yet. You can visit www.hailstate.com/tickets to make sure you are a part of Coach Cannizaro's first season at the helm of Bulldog Baseball.

We appreciate what you do for Mississippi State Athletics and want to encourage you to get others involved. There are three things you can do to help the athletic department at Mississippi State reach its desired goals –
1. Buy Season Tickets
2. Financially Support the Bulldog Club
3. Get Others To Do The Same
Thanks for taking the time to read this Update. Â
Hail State!
