Brown, Senior Headed To Football Postseason All-Star Games

STARKVILLE, Miss. -- Mississippi State linebacker Richie Brown and offensive tackle Justin Senior have accepted invitations to college postseason all-star games played later this month.
Brown will compete in the 92nd East-West Shrine Game on Saturday, Jan. 21 at 2 p.m. CT live on NFL Network. Brown will take the same field where he played his final MSU game at Tropicana Field and represent the East roster.
Senior joins wide receiver Fred Ross at the Reese's Senior Bowl on Saturday, Jan. 28 at 1:30 p.m. CT on NFL Network. The contest will be played at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Ala.
Senior is the fourth Bulldog offensive lineman to be invited to the Senior Bowl the past four seasons, joining Gabe Jackson, Dillon Day and Blaine Clausell. All three are currently on NFL rosters. Senior started 39 games in his career, including all 13 contests of his senior year at right tackle.
Senior claimed the 2016 Kent Hull Trophy as the state of Mississippi's top offensive lineman. He saw action in over 900 snaps and paved the way for a Bulldog rushing attack that averaged 230.5 yards per game on the ground. The Montreal, Quebec, native is a three-time member of the Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll and earned his undergraduate degree in sociology in 2015.
Brown was the Bulldogs' leading tackler in his final two seasons. A mainstay on the defense since 2014, Brown racked up 299 career tackles, representing the most by a player in the Dan Mullen era. He ended his senior year ranked fifth overall in the league in total tackles with 102.
Brown became the first MSU player to register back-to-back seasons of 100 or more tackles since Cam Lawrence did so in 2011 and 2012. Brown, a native of Long Beach, Miss., started 26 career games and all 13 at middle linebacker in 2016.
Brown was a semifinalist for the 2016 Campbell Trophy and earned his undergraduate degree in industrial technology. He is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration from the prestigious MSU MBA School.
