MSU Softball Opens 2016 Fall Slate At Home

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Softball is back in Starkville. After several weeks of preparation, Mississippi State softball will take the field to kick off its fall schedule on Saturday, Oct. 1 at Nusz Park.
The Bulldogs will welcome Chipola College for a doubleheader showdown on Saturday, starting at noon CT, followed by a Sunday contest against Southern Union State at 1 p.m. Admission to all games this fall at Nusz Park is free.
"We are jacked to play our first fall in Nusz Park," MSU coach Vann Stuedeman said. "We've only had two 20-hour weeks so these games have jumped on us quickly. Our first challenge presents itself early and I am fired up to see how we handle it."
"I'd like to invite all of our rowdy fans to come out to enjoy some free high quality softball and meet some incredible student-athletes. We love meeting our fans after games in the grandstand."
MSU returns 12 players from the 2015 squad, including a class of six seniors. State will also welcome seven newcomers to the Maroon and White this year.
Saturday begins the first fall for the Bulldogs at Nusz Park, a $6-million facility that opened last spring.
After Sunday's contest, the Dogs will return home for their final home fall contest, hosting Mississippi College on Friday, Oct. 7 at 6:30 p.m.
