Know Your Bulldog: Carly Mauldin

When transitioning from high school to college, many athletes are faced with the tough decision of choosing a dream school or continuing to play the sport they love.
Â
Luckily for midfielder Carly Mauldin, she got the best of both worlds.
Â
The sophomore from Laurel, Miss., always wanted to continue the Mississippi State tradition that runs in her family while extending her soccer career.
Â
"I've always attended games at State so it was a dream to end up here," Mauldin said. "It was even more incredible when I was recruited to play soccer and be a part of my family's school."
Â
As a freshman, she logged a team-leading 1,663 minutes while starting all 18 games for the Bulldogs at midfield.
Â
This season the sophomore has logged over 1,000 minutes for the Maroon and White as she again paces the team in minutes played while also earning her career-first assist in MSU's 3-1 against UT Martin on Aug. 28.
Â
Mauldin hopes the team continues to work hard and improve, while gelling with one another. Her personal goals are to keep working on her own game and make herself better as a player.
Â
"We are working very well together right now, and I know we can keep that up. It would be amazing to make it to the SEC Tournament this year, and I believe we have the team to do it," Mauldin said.
Â
It's a feat the Bulldogs haven't experienced since 2004, and a drought she desperately wants to see come to an end this season.
Â
"It's what we are all working for," she said. "It's our motivation."
Â
Up Next
