STARKVILLE, Miss. – Former Mississippi State All-American Ally McDonald will once again face the world's best golfers as she has earned a spot in the field for this weekend's LPGA Evian Championship in Evian-Les-Baines, France.
She opens play in the major championship at 8:24 a.m. CDT on Thursday. The first three rounds will air on the Golf Channel, while Sunday's final round will be broadcast by NBC.
McDonald claimed her LPGA Tour card for 2017 and earned a spot in the event by finishing second on the Symetra Tour money list.
The Fulton, Miss., native claimed five Top-10 finishes on the Symetra Tour this season, including four Top-5 showings in her last eight events.
This weekend's championship will be her fourth LPGA event. She played in a pair of tournaments in 2015, including the Yokohama Tire LPGA Classic where she tied for 41st with a 3-under 285.
The Evian Championship won't be McDonald's first time in a major, though, as she earned the opportunity to play in the U.S. Women's Open in 2014 and 2015.
When not playing in professional events, McDonald serves as volunteer coach for Ginger Brown-Lemm's Mississippi State squad.
She helps mentor the current crop of Bulldogs following a stellar career that saw her shatter almost every individual record, including most rounds in the 60's, lowest stroke average, most birdies and a Belmar Golf Club course record at the 2014 Schooner Fall Classic.
The field for the Evian is set at 120 players based on most earned and past performances.
McDonald notched her first professional win last summer at the Michigan Open Championship by shooting an opening-round 69 en route to a 5-under 211 for the event.
