Athletic Marketing Finalizes 2016-17 Staff

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Mississippi State Athletic Marketing has finalized its 2016-17 staff with the addition of Dan Brown as director of creative services and Hannah Smith as assistant director of marketing.
In addition, Leah Beasley has been promoted to associate athletic director of marketing and fan engagement, while Rhett Hobart has been elevated to director of marketing. Jake Amodio, who joined the staff in May, serves as assistant director of marketing.
The department won the 2016 Marketing Team of the Year Award (MTOYA), presented by SuperFanU, at the 25th annual National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA) Convention earlier this summer in Dallas.
Brown comes to Starkville after serving one year as the assistant graphic designer for the University of Florida Athletic Association where he generated digital art for promotional, ticket and social media items. Brown produces content for the NFL Network, serving as a social media creative designer. He creates graphics for the network's social media promotions of the NFL Draft, Thursday Night Football, Super Bowl and other network shows.
"Being a part of this marketing team in the SEC and Bulldog family is an opportunity of a lifetime," Brown said. "I'm a young designer with a creative mind that takes my ideas beyond their potential. I have nothing but passion and love for what I do. Mississippi State offered me a chance to really take my craft to another level and within one visit to Starkville to meet everyone and see the facilities, I was drawn in. I plan on creating art that tells a story and illustrates the efforts these student-athletes put in to entertain fans and carry the Bulldog tradition."
A native of Rochester, N.Y., Brown earned a degree in graphic design from Monroe (N.Y.) Community College in 2011.
Smith most recently served as a graduate assistant for Oklahoma Athletics from 2013-14. She oversaw the marketing efforts of the men's gymnastics and track and field teams and worked closely with the men's basketball, volleyball, women's gymnastics and softball squads. She earned a Master of Intercollegiate Athletic Administration from Oklahoma in May.
"I am excited to be back working for Mississippi State Athletics," Smith said. "After graduating from MSU in 2013, I had a great opportunity to learn more about college athletics at other top Division I institutions. However, being born and raised in Starkville, I am glad to be back home working for Mississippi State.
Smith spent two years as a marketing intern at UNC Wilmington from 2013-14. She was involved in all of the department's marketing efforts. The Starkville native graduated from MSU in 2013 with a degree in sport communication. She worked in the Bulldog men's basketball office as an undergraduate student from 2009-13.
