McBride, Bougard Wrap First Day Of Olympic Qualifying

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Mississippi State standouts Brandon McBride and Erica Bougard wrapped the opening day of their roads to the Olympic Games in Rio.
McBride ran the fastest time in the 800 meter prelims at the Canadian Track and Field Championships, cruising to the finals with a 1:48.02 clocking.
Bougard wrapped the opening day of the heptathlon at the United States Track and Field Olympic Trials in fifth place with 3,804 points.
Bougard began the afternoon finishing second in both the 100m hurdles and high jump. She ran 13.11 in the hurdles before clearing 6-0.50 in the high jump.
After finishing 17th in the shot put with a throw of 40-04.25, Bougard rebounded to take second in the 200 meters with a time of 23.94.
McBride vies for a spot in Rio in Sunday afternoon's final. Bougard also wraps up action Sunday, competing in the long jump, javelin and 800 meters.
