STARKVILLE, Miss. – Mississippi State quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver Fred Ross were named to the 2015 Associated Press All-Southeastern Conference football team, the organization announced Monday.
Prescott joined Billy Stacy (1956-57) as the only two Bulldogs to earn consecutive first-team AP honors at quarterback. The Haughton, Louisiana, native finished the regular season first in league games in completions (226), completion percentage (67.1), passing yards (2,528), touchdown-to-interception ratio (17:4), passing yards per game (316.2) and total offense per game (363.2). Prescott also ranked second in conference games with a 144.3 passing efficiency rating and tied for fifth in points scored (48). The senior team captain was the only SEC player to lead his team in the regular season in both rushing and passing and one of only six players in the Power 5 conferences to do so.
The signal caller broke his own single-season school records for completion percentage (66.9 in 2015; 61.6 in 2014) and yards per game (284.4 in 2015; 265.3 in 2014). In games against ranked teams, he led the league in completions (87), completion percentage (63.5), passing yards (889) and passing yards per game (296.3).
Earning second-team honors, Ross became the first MSU All-SEC pass catcher since Chad Bumphis in 2012. Leading the way in conference games in receptions per game (8.8) and yards per game (93.2), the Tyler, Texas, native also finished seventh in the league in punt return average per game and tied for ninth in all-purpose yards per game.
The junior led the league in games against Top-25 opponents with 29 receptions for 297 yards. The month of November was one to remember for Ross, as he ranked second nationally in receptions (41) and fourth in receiving yards (500) during the month
