May 07, 2016 | Women's Golf
BATON ROUGE, La. – Having a lot of ground to make up in the final round of the NCAA Regional Tournament in Baton Rouge, Ji Eun Baik put up a hard fight after she tallied a six shot improvement from the second round en route to firing a 70.
Baik's day started off tough with two bogeys in three holes she then fired four birdies to finish out the first nine holes 2-under-par. She went on to drain three more birdies, completing the final nine at even par.
She finished T34, missing the cut by four shots.
Jessica Peng was on her way to her best finish of the weekend as well after ending the front nine holes 3-under. She reached -5 after 14 holes, but ended the day with her second consecutive 75 and tied for 30, missing the cut by only three strokes.
"We had a very successful day for the most part today, " MSU coach Ginger Brown-Lemm said. "True to the nature of the course, two holes cost Jessica dearly and a few too many bogeys caught Ji Eun. For them to be at their third NCAA Regional speaks to their talent and our programs improvement. I am so very proud of them."
