
Five More Bulldogs Earn NCAA Championships Spots on Saturday

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Five more members of the Mississippi State track and field teams earned spots in the NCAA Championships as the Bulldogs wrapped NCAA East Preliminaries action on Saturday.
Marta Freitas rolled to a spot in the NCAA Championships in the 1500m, improving her nation's-best time with a 4:09.80. Ffion Price also earned a spot in the event in Eugene, Oregon, taking fourth in her heat and 10th overall in 4:20.45.
"I was very proud of the way we came out today and competed hard on the final day of qualifying," MSU coach Steve Dudley said. "We have a great contingent going to the national meet, so now we turn our attention to getting them ready to go in a couple of weeks."
Erica Bougard will compete in four events at the NCAA Championships after she qualified in the 100m hurdles on Saturday. Bougard, who already advanced in the heptathlon, high jump and long jump, finished Saturday's hurdles quarterfinal 10th in 13.04.
On the men's side, Seth Peace punched his ticket to Eugene as he cleared 6-11.75 to tie for eighth.
Mississippi State closed the weekend by sending its men's 4x400-meter relay team to the NCAA Championships. Juston Waters, Alfred Larry, Brandon McBride and Vince Castillo finished third in their heat with a season-best 3:04.01.
The NCAA Outdoor Championships take place June 8-11 at historic Hayward Field.
