
MSU Lefty Justin Pigott Tabbed For Pitcher Of The Week Honors

The left-hander from Picayune, Miss., making only his second career start,three-hit the Gators, allowing one unearned run in Mississippi State'sseries-clinching 8-1 win Saturday. Pigott (5-0, 0.94) faced four battersover the minimum and did not issue a walk in the route-going performancethat lasted two hours and 11 minutes, the quickest game of the year for theBulldogs.
It was Pigott's fourth conference win of the campaign and MSU's thirdcomplete-game of the year, all in a five-game span. Senior southpaw BrooksDunn, who notched the MSU staff¹s first complete-game pitching effort in a7-2 Saturday win at South Carolina Apr. 29, recorded a career-high 11strikeouts and went the distance in State¹s series-opening 6-2 Friday nightwin over the Gators.
Pigott, now 7-1 in two seasons at MSU, becomes the first Bulldog to earn theweekly SEC award this season.
The win Saturday clinched the Bulldogs first series win over Florida sincethe 2000 season and snapped a run of five straight 1-2 showings in weekendconference play.
Mississippi State (33-16, 11-12 SEC) travels to Lexington, Ky., this weekendfor a three-game series against No. 7 Kentucky (37-11, 16-8 SEC). The Friday(5:30 p.m. CDT) and Saturday (6 p.m. DT) games at Shively Field will betelevised by FOX Sports Net South.
