Rain Washes Out Day 2 Action In Bulldog Round-Robin

STARKVILLE, Miss. - Due to steady rain expected to make its presence felt throughout the day on Saturday, day two action in the Bulldog Round-Robin has officially been declared a washout, Mississippi State head coach Jay Miller announced Saturday morning.
The four teams will resume a regular schedule when they return to the MSU Softball Field on Sunday. Alcorn State (1-10) will battle Northwestern State (6-6) in Sunday's opener, with Southeast Missouri State (1-1) taking on the Demons in the noon contest. State (11-0) will close out tournament play with a Sunday afternoon doubleheader, first taking on Southeast Missouri State at 2 p.m. before locking horns with Alcorn State immediately following.
The Bulldogs defeated Northwestern State and Southeast Missouri State by identical 5-2 scores on Friday to run its win streak to double digits. The 2006 version of the Maroon and White, which is off to its best start in program history, is also currently one win away from equaling the 20-year-old school record for longest winning streak (12) set by the 1986 ball club en route to a 27-11 final record.
