#27 Lady Bulldogs Capture SEC West Title

State's five wins in SEC play ties a school all-time high and is the mostconference victories by head coach Tracy Lane during her stint at MSU. Thelast time the Lady Bulldogs posted five SEC wins was during the 1989campaign.
Lane's 11 overall wins ties her all-time high set during the 2000 season.That season the Lady Bulldogs finished with an 11-11 mark, 3-8 in theleague. That squad made their second consecutive appearance in NCAARegionals and finished the season ranked 36th nationally.
"I am really excited with what we accomplished this year," Lane said. "Wewent from winning one match when I first got here to winning five matchesand winning the SEC West. I am extremely excited about where we are at as aprogram."
The Lady Bulldogs next take part in the 2005 SEC Tournament in Tuscaloosa,Ala., on the University of Alabama campus. State earned the tournament'sNo. 8 seed and opens the tourney Thursday with a 9 a.m. match against theLSU Lady Tigers. MSU is 1-0 against LSU this year, having downed the LadyTigers 4-3 on April 3 in Baton Rouge.
