MSU Track Team Ready For NCAA Championships

STARKVILLE, Miss. ? Mississippi State University men's and women's track and field teams head to Austin, Texas, for the 2004 NCAA National Championships at the Mike A. Myers Stadium on the campus of the University of Texas. The four-day event will begin on Wednesday, June 9.
Lady Bulldogs Tiffany McWilliams and Jennifer McPherson will compete in the prelims of the 1500m on Thursday evening. McWilliams is the defending national champion in the event, recording her career best time of 4:06.75 at the 2003 Championships.
On the men's side, decathlete Trey Hardee will begin his 10 events on Friday with the 100m dash. He finished fifth as a freshman at last season's championships. Junior LaChristopher Lewis is set to leap in the qualifying round of the long jump on Wednesday evening. Senior Jamel Ashley runs in the prelims of the 400m dash also on Wednesday evening.
The Bulldogs will race in two relays in Austin. The 4x100m relay team of Eliott Morant, Ashley, Arthur Davis and Lewis run in the prelims on Wednesday at 4:40 p.m. Ashley, Davis, Keston Nelson and Lewis compete in the prelims of the 4x400m relay Thursday evening.
