Former MSU Standouts Zimmerman And Ignerski To Attend Chicago Pre-Draft Camp

Featuring 66 players displaying their talents in front of a wide assortment of National Basketball Association coaches and general managers, the league's only official camp prior to the NBA Draft later this month begins Tuesday evening with drill sessions. Three days of actual head-to-head game competition, along with extensive strength testing, gets underway Wednesday morning at Chicago's Moody Bible Institute. The week-long camp session will conclude next Monday (June 9) following a three-day physical combine at an area hospital.
This year's NBA Draft will be held in New York City at The Theater at Madison Square Garden on Thursday, June 26.
Having also participated at the Portsmouth (Va.) Invitational Tournament this past April, Zimmerman twice earned third-team all-SEC honors for coach Rick Stansbury's Bulldogs en route to setting new all-time school standards by handing out 514 career assists and appearing in 127 career games. A two-time team co-captain for MSU and twice selected to the SEC All-Tournament Team, Zimmerman paced the SEC in assists (5.5 apg) for the second straight season, along with averaging 8.9 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game, this past year as a senior in helping lead the 21-10 Bulldogs to a second consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance and repeat berth in the championship game of the SEC Tournament.
Also a two-year starter for Stansbury's Bulldogs, Ignerski averaged 8.9 points and 4.2 rebounds per contest during his two-year State stint. Following a standout two-year career in the Oklahoma junior college ranks, he helped lead Mississippi State to a two-year composite record of 48-18, including back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances, an SEC Western Division championship this past year and an SEC Tournament title in 2002. This past season, Ignerski completed his senior campaign as MSU's third-leading scorer (9.0 ppg) and No. 3 rebounder (4.8 rpg), while also ranking third on the club in both free-throw percentage (71.7%) and made three-point field goals (27).
